【摘要】:1.1Thesepracticescovertwoclassesoftreatmentforpreparationofmagnesiumalloysurfacesforpainting,asfollows:ClassIx2014;ChemicalTreatments.ClassIIx2014;AnodicTreatments.Ingeneral,thelattertreatmentsarethemoreprotectiveofthetwoclasses.Mechanical(abrasive)treatments,solventcleaning,alkalinesolutiontreatments,andacidpicklesnotresultinginprotectiveconversioncoatingsaresuitablepreliminarytreatmentsonlyformetaltobeexposedundermildlycorrosive(indoor)exposures.Whenahighdegreeofcorrosionprotectionandpaintadhesionaredesired,asinmanyoutdoorenvironments,surfacepreparationbyoneoftheaboveconversion-coatclassesisnecessary.Thehexavalentchromiumbasedmethodsgivenarenotrecommendedashexavalentchromiumisaknowncarcinogen.Note18212;TestingofCoatingsx2014;Qualitycontroltestsofcoatingsarefrequentlydesirable,andthesegenerallyconsistofexposures,withorwithoutpaint,tosaltspray,humidity,ornaturalenvironments,withsuitableproceduresforassessingthedegreeofbreakdownsufferedafterfixedtimeintervals.Itisrecommendedthatqualitycontroltestsofcoatingsshallbemadeasfaraspossiblewithhigh-puritymaterial(forexampleAZ31Aalloy),theinherentcorrosionrateofwhichisrelativelyconsistentfrombatchtobatch)andthatprecautionsshallbetakentoremovesurfacecontaminationbeforecoatingsareapplied.Suchcontaminationshallberemovedbyacidpicklingtoadepthofatleast0.001in.(25x03BC;m)perside.1.2Thisstandardmayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.(SeeNote11.)
